Milldale Scout Camp

This weekend 18th SWC went up to Milldale to camp out. The first 2 days was for scouts, and then the beavers and the cubs joined the fun! We had an amazing time and we made so many bonds, especially the new scouts that have just joined us.

On Friday Night the scouts of the group set up the Cub Camp. We set up all of the tents that we would be sleeping in for the next 2 nights. Lucy got hers up in a flash and started to help with Leon's tent, while the boys spent a bit more time shouting for help than actually putting the tent up! After that we had tea, which was a lovely stir fry. The day finished around the campfire, and we were soon all tucked up in bed ready for the start of our activity weekend.

Camping is fun, although being woken up at 5:45 AM isn't! We were all woken at a slightly earlier time we would of liked. The boys had woken up and they wanted breakfast! Nobody really had it until around 8:00 AM but we were all tired and just wanted to go back to bed. But time flies and we found ourselves at our first activity of the weekend, Crate Stacking. We all put on our harnesses, which were slightly tight and we were getting our way up there. Unfortunately, Josh's leg was causing him some pain so he had to come down. He later released a statement "If it wasn't for my leg, I would have been up there in seconds." After we all went back to camp, and Lucy wasn't impressed when the boys were daring Robert to ask her out. (It's usual Year 7 talk now.) Then, to break all the tension up, a suprise visitor arrived. Kyle had come to stay with us for the rest of the camp. Everyone was very happy to see him, especially Leon! Later, we had Chicken Curry with rice and naan bread, and yet again we ended our day by the campfire roasting marshmellows.

Today we weren't woken up at an early start, in fact we got woken up at 7:30 AM. For breakfast we had sasuage and bacon butties. After that, we set up archery ready for the Cubs & Beavers. When everybody had a go at archery, we had our lunch sandwiches. Robert had set up a trail for the Beavers to do, so they went and done that while the cubs did archery. A bit later on was the time we were waiting for, hometime. The scouts put down the tents and we all went home.

That was a brilliant weekend and all of us hope that there will be a camp in the very near future.
